Adult Migrant English Program

The College is part of a consortium that provides the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP). This program is based on the NSW AMES Certificate In Spoken and Written English (CSWE) and provides up to 510 hours of basic English as a Second Language to eligible migrants and refugees from non-English speaking backgrounds.
The AMEP is free to eligible migrants (bring along passport and/or visa papers for proof of eligibility). Fee for service CSWE is also available.
Classes are conducted in several venues throughout the St George and Sutherland areas.

Workplace English
Any organisation wishing to start community classes at your own venue. Workplace English can be free to AMEP eligible employees at a time to suit the employer and the employee. Home Tutor and Independent Learning Centre and Distance Learning also available to people who are working.

Translation Service
Document translation application forms can be lodged at SGSCC. This fee-free service is available for eligible migrants (Conditions apply).

Accredited Course Descriptions
CERTIFICATE IN SPOKEN & WRITTEN ENGLISH (CSWE)
CSWE is a VETAB accredited course and is specially designed to assist adult learners of non-English speaking backgrounds to develop their language and literacy skills
A pre-course assessment is required before entry into the programme.
Choose from the following specifically designed Certificate in Spoken and Written English (CSWE) courses.
CSWE I (91421NSW)
For learners from a culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) background who have little or no English and require survival English, reading, writing and conversation.
CSWE II (91422NSW)
For learners from a culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) background who do speak some English and require English vocabulary extension, conversation and listening skills. Reading and writing will cover grammar, spelling, vocabulary extension and sentence structure.
CSWE III (91423NSW)
For learners who have a good understanding of English but want to improve their self confidence and fluency in general expression, conversation and business language. Reading and writing will be covered to improve sentence structure, grammar, spelling, vocabulary extension and different genre of reading and writing.

English IELTS Test Preparation - Advanced
This intensive course prepares you for the IELTS test with excellent course materials, worksheets and audio cassettes. General and Academic modules available and materials are provided.
